Pitch

The pitch is a rectangular strip in the center of the ground.

It is approximately 22 yards (20.12 meters) long and 10 feet (3.05 meters) wide.

The pitch is made of a carefully prepared surface, usually composed of clay, which provides bounce and pace to the ball.

Wickets

At each end of the pitch, there are three wooden stumps, placed vertically in the ground.

The stumps are 28 inches (71.1 cm) tall and positioned such that they are evenly spaced with gaps between them.

On top of the stumps, there are two small wooden bails, which balance delicately and can be dislodged when the stumps are hit.

Creases

The creases are marked lines on the pitch that serve as important reference points for the players and umpires.

Bowling Crease: A bowling crease is marked 8 feet 8 inches (2.64 meters) from the stumps at each end. It indicates the area from which the bowler delivers the ball.

Popping Crease: A popping crease is marked 4 feet (1.22 meters) in front of each set of stumps. Batsmen must stay within these creases while facing the bowler.

Return Crease: Return creases are marked on either side of the stumps, extending from the popping crease. They guide the bowler's follow-through and the batsmen's running path.

Outfield

The outfield is the grassy area surrounding the pitch.

It provides the playing surface for fielders and is used for scoring runs by hitting the ball into open spaces.

Outfields can vary in size and condition depending on the cricket ground.

Boundaries

Boundaries define the outer limits of the playing area.

They are marked by ropes, fences, or painted lines to indicate the point at which the ball must cross to score boundary runs (four or six runs).

The distance from the pitch to the boundary can vary, depending on the size of the ground or the specific regulations of the match.

Sight Screens

Sight screens are large screens or boards placed at the boundary, behind the bowler's arm.

They are typically colored white or a neutral color to provide a contrasting background and improve visibility for the batsmen.

Pavilion

The pavilion is a building or structure near the cricket ground that houses the players' dressing rooms, amenities, and facilities for officials and spectators.

It often includes areas for media, commentary boxes, and scoreboards.

Dugouts

Dugouts are areas located near the boundary where players not involved in the game can sit, rest, or warm up.

They provide shelter and a vantage point for players waiting to bat or take the field.

Sightlines and Seating

Cricket grounds have spectator seating areas, typically surrounding the ground or positioned to provide a good view of the action.

Seating arrangements can range from uncovered grass banks to grandstands, depending on the size and facilities of the ground.

Practice Facilities

Many cricket grounds have practice nets or pitches adjacent to the main ground where players can warm up, train, and refine their skills.

Each cricket ground may have its own unique characteristics, dimensions, and facilities. The design and layout of the ground play a significant role in the playing conditions and overall match experience.
